I am trying to ease into a planted tank, so about 2 1/2 weeks ago we got some moneywort, it seems to be doing pretty well, now that I got a substrate that will hold it down (at first we had the brightly colored gravel, now we have playsand).

About 10 days ago we got some water wisteria and it is doing ok. The roots are growing, the top looks good but some of the lower leaves are brwon around the edges. I can't remember if the leaves looked like that when I got them home, but the plants are growing taller so I am thinking that they are getting healhier than they were when I bought them.

Then on friday I got some cabomba and vallisneria americanum. They wrapped the plants in a paper towel so the cabomba looks like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. In addition some of the leaves on the vallisneria look like they ought to be removed, except then that plant would have no leaves.

So when do I assume the problem is with my tank? I figure any problems with the vall and cabomba are from the LFS but with the water wiseria, should I remove the affected leaves? Give it longer? Go buy more stuff for the tank?

Oh, and the tank is not fully cycled. I think maybe I am getting close though.

Thanks for any help,
Christi
