any advise welcome :)

I would first start of to say that breeding traps make the mom fish unnessecerly stressed which can lead to still borns. Second of all if you could get a smaller tank put her in there alone with a lot of plants because the babies will need to hide and she will eat them if she can. Third of all she not even be pregnant because sometimes fish have somthing called dropsy and it can kill them. Please post your water parameters and a pic if you can!

hi,
water parameters are test results for ammonia and nitrite,
anyway if you have enough room for a breeding net in the main tank set it up ready,
have some live floating plants in the main tank, then when shes given birth you can scoop up the fry in to the net and raise them in there. :good:

A test kit is like the one found here. The Master Test Kit is what you would be looking for here. There are test strip kits, but those are highly inaccurate. The liquid test kits like this one are much more reliable. They're not great on the low end of nitrates, but that's when it's less important. The ammnia and nitrite readings should be good.
