Is It Normal To Lose 24 Fish Since March?

Just my 2 cents, when you've treated your tank, did you remember to take the carbon out of your filter? I'm not familiar with medications (never used one, actually - and (knock on wood) hope to not have to...) but I've heard several people say, and have read, the carbon in your filter will wipe out any medications you drop in.

As for the hospital tank, PetSmart is having a sale on their 10-Gallon All-Glass aquariums (just the tank itself) for around $6 US - if you have one of their Petsmart Cards. (If not, you can get one immediately by filling out a free app.) Might not hurt to pick one up, if you already have a filter / airpump for the one gall, you can move it to the 10.

Hmmmm....just looking at your 46G and its inhabitants, or number of. I have a feeling that you may have (had) too many fishes at one time, and as such, some tankmates may become more aggressive than normal. Too many fishes = more stress.

If your water tests are fine, and your losses have shown no sign of illness other than being under-fed, could it be they'd died because they were 'weaker' than the others? They weren't given the chance to eat, let alone swimming/personal space?

Maybe an assumption, but I think your fishes had died as a result of community aggression.

Sorry for your loss. :(

Becca - I remove the carbon before I use any medication. :) Thanks for telling about the Petsmart offer. I'll look into that, but I don't have a filter, only an air pump.

kribsinvcrib - Most of the fish are still very small, only an inch or so. I haven't updated my signature in a while, but I know that I have 28 fish in the 46 gallon and 9 fish in the hospital tank. I got most of the fish from my friend, (who's a fish breeder) and she gave me all the guppies, platies and mollies I have because her tank was very overstocked! I never saw any aggression in the tank and I make sure they all eat.

Unfortunately, I lost one of my female guppies today! :-(

Can anyone recommend some kind of medicine for treating an internal parasite?
