Tank size: 55g
pH: 6.5 - 7
tank temp: 26 C

Fish Symptoms: To begin, I wasn't home for the past 3 days with hopes that family would take care of the fish, and after a "fun" week of university, I returned to see one of my electric blue rams swimming frantically and looking pretty suspicious. Further observations allowed me to notice that it seemed she was constipated (?) and that there was also fuzzy, white fungus growing out of her anus. I'm really not sure what this is and the closest thing I searched up is fish fungus

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 20~25% weekly

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: None.

Tank inhabitants: 2 Electric blue rams, 2 German blue rams, 6 Rummy nose tetras, 7 Cardinal Tetras, 2 Coloured Zebras

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 2 Coloured zebras that were added while I was gone. Not sure where they came from, but one is deformed and they're either very fat or bloated. I did get the electric rams around the same time I planted the tank with amazon swords, baby tears and dwarf sag.

Exposure to chemicals: None that I am aware of.

It looks more like a prolapse or hernia of some kind, although it may have developed fungus as a secondary infection. I'm afraid there's not a lot you can do. Fish's guts are quite simple, so it may heal itself, in the meantime keep the water in tip top condition and make sure the fish doesn't get picked on.

I know it's not what you're asking about, but I feel I ought to comment on your tank; it looks a bit bare. Rams are quite shy, and have evolved to live in dark, tannin stained water (it's why they're so brightly coloured; so they can see each other in the gloom!) with lots of tangled roots and dead branches and leaf litter on the floor. In your environment they are going to be quite stressed, which can lead to to health issues. Even a dark background on the tank would help.

Thank you for the help, we can all hope for the best. I do agree that the tank is bare, and I do have plans in the coming week to change a bunch of stuff. I bought 50lbs of black sand which I'll be washing tomorrow, and a 30" piece of drift wood as well to add in. With regards to the background, I still have a lot of planting to do but I was waiting to change the sand first. Thanks for the advice, I'll surely take it when adding more stuff!

Best of luck; do let us know how she gets on

Well the condition doesn't seem to be improving. She's typically at the top of the tank just breathing, and she didn't eat this morning either. She typically rushes for food.

Sorry to hear about your ram :(.

I do like the new look of your tank though. I'm sure the fish will appreciate the change :).
