Is it feasible to have a Malawi tank (haps & peacocks), without any bottom dwellers?

I have seen tanks without any, so imagine it may be ok, if not ideal. I religiously vacuum my tank and do water changes once a week.

Thank you.

Yep. no problems. Quit a few will actually help keep the bottom clean anyway. My dolphins do a good job! Any reason why you don't want bottom dwellers?

Just simply that I plan to breed them and as they lay their eggs on flat rocks before they are fertilised I don't want Synodontis or bristlenoses having a wee feast! Just trying to sway the odds of survival.
