Is It Better To Up My Rainbows?

in my 190 ltr i will be left with

2 cupid cichlids
4 denisonii barbs
5 celebe rainbows
4 rams
2 cockatoo cichlids
1 bristlenose
2 fork tail rainbow

shall i up the forktails to 10 as my lfs has just got some in.

There's no reason why a 190l could not hold a group of 10 Forktail Blue Eye Rainbows (Pseudomugil furcata), or even upto ~15, while trying to ensure there are two females to each beautifully finned male.

However, if you do not have "issues" already with the current stocking of your 190l, I suspect that you probably will...

• The Denison's Barb definitely need a longer tank (4-foot or more), could do with at least a couple more as they are a schooling fish that are known to get a little nasty in small numbers, plus I suspect you are keeping them in water too warm for them long term in order to keep your other fish happy. They will live much shorter lives if kept permanently at the high end of their temperature range (24/25C), but will do much better spending most of the year <20C with a "summer season" upto 25C.
• 8 cichlids, especially if they contain sexed pairs, is a bloodbath waiting to happen in their current tank.
