I am currently cycling my tank, all thats in the tank, is gravel, Large piece of drift wood, 5 Big rocks, and 2 plastic ornaments. I am happy with it how it is, but didnt know if it needed some plants.

I plan on keeping Silver Dollars, and angels. and i heard they will destroy all plants.

I also have Black Ghost knife and bristlenose cat.

Thanks

I wouldn't say that it's bad to go without live plants. Many people have done it and I still do on one of my tanks. I can't really comment on the fish you are selecting. All of my planted tanks are community with small tetras and the like. I know that cichlids can be pretty hard on plants, ecspecially stem plants.

Really, it comes down to personal choice. Planted tanks require more maintenance and upkeep...ie. ferts, trimming, keeping filter inlets free, constantly replanting the new growth. But, a lush, healthy planted tank is a thing of beauty and well worth the effort.

I recently had some people over for a party. They stood around my 30gallon planted for a long time asking questions. I put the "planted tank" bug in a few of them, I know it :hyper:
