is alright that i put something in water and put in sunlight in the day and put a aquarium light on the night so it can grow algea and feed it to my common pleco i have?

I don't think thats a good idea, its better to feed your pleco with algae waffers and veggies, once you get algae growing it will be difficult to get rid of.

Don't put the object in a tank.
Use a bowl or pot.
So you don't have to worry about the other critters in the tank.
And keep the object out during the day only and use a few drops of miracle grow.
And make sure the object your using won't alter the water chemistry.
Be careful of hair algae, plecos don't usually eat it and once it starts growing it usually doesn't stop.
