I can't really make out the belly region, if you can take a picture of its tummy then we can tell for sure.
Though cons are probably the easiest cichlid to sex, females have orange specles on their stomach, males dont. You can probably tell its sex from this, if your still unsure post a pic showing its belly region.

On the 4th picture though, I might make out some orange, but I'm unsure if its the camera doing that or something, so IF I had to guess, I would say female, but pictures of the stomach would clear things up.

Thanks, my camera just died on me so it's charging now so I will post more pictured of him/her.

Judging by this picture, I would say your convict is a female. I can make out some orangy/pinkish on the convicts stomach, however it could just be the camera playing tricks. If you want a mate for your convict, I would make sure you know the gender first if you only intend to buy one fish. You should be able to see clearly on the stomach if your convict has any orange specles, this is a sign of a female. If the convict lacks any orange on the stomach then its a pretty accurate way of saying its a male.

If you decide to get a mate, try and get a male (if you have a female) that is just abit smaller than her. Though still expect some liplocking and fighting. This is normal, you will have to judge if one is beating up on the other too badly, though with convicts I expect they will start breeding relatively quickly.

Thanks for the excellent reply. That picture is the camera playing tricks. I took a really good look at her/his belly and there is no pink what so ever. Not even spots of pink so I don't know why the camera did that. I thought it over and I think I’m just going to keep Scooter in there. I’m not one for watching the fighting. I don't want to go threw that. It would be nice to have two in there but I’m a wimp when I see cichlids fighting.

Do the other pictures look like he/she is a male or a female? The other pictures are more accurate of what he/she looks like.

If there is no pink/orange (orange is the colour to look for) whatsoever then its definately a male (another thing though, how big is the convict, I was basing my judgement on the photos, where your convict looks to be over 2" - which should be ample size to be able to sex. Though if your convict is small, its possible the colours havn't appeared yet).

Its difficult to say what sex the convict appears, as the camera added the pink. On the 3rd picture in this thread, it looks male.
A more reliable indication of sex would be from your own eyes, where you can see the convict with no distortion. Trust yourself on this, if you see no orange and the convict is big enough (they don't need to be big at all to sex), then its a male.
