Just moved 10 gal. tank when I moved apts. from upstairs to downstairs. We ditched the old gravel because it seemed toxic at this point but left the long-used filter media for bacteria content.

Since I can't find the fish supplies-packed box and haven't had time to shop, we left the tank with very little gravel but 2 live plants (not sure what) and a few other decorations (artificial--that they've always liked). DO I NEED TO PUT GRAVEL IN TANK FOR THE MOLLIES AND BARB? I know that bettas dont need it necessarily. (we also have a little breeding net with 2 molly fry in them.)

So, gravel or no gravel? Couldn't find really any info on net...

Thanks.

Wal-mart has small 5 pound bags of nice natural looking gravel for $1.27 That would give you a nice thin layer at least so bacteria have some surface.

Thanks to all. I did end up putting some leftover new gravel I had from my betta bowl decorations. --Wendy
