Is Duct Tape Fish safe?

I'm breeding Danios and I'm useing DIY UGF's that are made of egg crate and screening and one has some Duct tape on it. I Dont want to risk the fish with duct tape Unless someone else has experimented, PErhaps even by accident. The Tape is well aged and Would appear to have been used in a tank before but maybe not. If you have never put Duct Tape in with your Fish Please don't answer me with an "I'd assume so" or a "I wouldn't Risk it" Because of the complex nature of adhesives I need some one who has experimented. I Could Soak it for a while But I dont Really Have the time Seeing As how my Favored Female is full to bursting.

Duct tape in my experence with my dads pool did not hold up it released and left sticky stuff on the inside of the pool. I'd advise using special tape for pool and ask the pool people if it will release chemicals into the water.

it isnt there for structural reasons and it only needs to be in the water for 12 hrs. So no worries there.

alright I have just talked the red greens with duck tape and a plumber (my dads friends for you I hope you pay the longest charge). They said hold on yeos going to type


Hey, yeah if you tape it outside the water and then duck it that will last longer than if you go and through it and tape it in the water. Duck tape only last about 1 hour in the water so there is no chance in hell your getting to get the 12 hours mark. Also the glue wash right off the strip so that going to make your water go wanky.

Serena aka wonder: Back again I hope that helps my dads friends and my dad said the same thing there is no chance that it ever hold up and the glue washes away.

well i have some adhesives from some sort of tape in my tank, no problems at all

Thank you for your replies, I dont need the tape to last I just need it to not kill the fish.It serves no purpose what so ever But is attatched to something I want to put in the tank for 12 hours.

yes duck tape is fine, we had duck tape iside and outside our tank for a year to fix a crack, and we had no problems at all, our little fishies were fine.
