Is Cyanobactaria Poisonous

I have a 17 gallon fish tank that has recently had a cynobactaria bloom. I was able to remove the cynobactaria with the thing I use to clean the glass but pieces of cynobacteria floated around the tank before the filter sucked them up but while they were floating around, my harlequin rasobaras began eating them. Is this bad? I heard that cynobacteria can be poisonous so will this be fatal to the fish?

There are a host of different types of cyano, some can be highly toxic and others not so. Usually the kinds we see in tanks are not the really nasty ones. Here is a good read on cycano which should help you some: http/www.skepticalaquarist.com/controlling-cyanobacteria
