I had to move one of my angels because he was getting beat up in one of my 30g tanks. I put him in a 10g quarantine and he healed up quite well but this is to small of a tank for him. I have a 20g tall that I will set up today and move all the media from my 10g to the 20g. Do you think the 20 will be big enough to house him and maybe one friend for a good while or do you think he will be miserable? I was gonna set up 55g but now I'm thinking I want a 120g for next july so I don't want to set it up. Or should I just give him away? :(

thanks in advance

edit: byw, he is med size and I thought I would try to find him a smaller female or at least a smaller friend and pray it was a female and them move them together to the larger tank in july.

It's do-able but I'd keep him alone until you have the other tank set-up. If you don't get the other tank you'll need to give him away. The 20 gallon should be considered temporary.

Thanks for the reply sylvia,

I know, what a pickle. I bought a group of angels hoping to get two pairs and all but one are male (I think). Tomorrow I have someone coming by to p/u a choc veil who is always hiding is one of my 30g from another male. He will be going to a 115g tank. Luckily I have one pair that fell in love in a 30g and they are so sweet together. Can fish get lonely? maybe i'm being silling. The pair I have seem so content together.

A tankof 36 inches tall is the usual minimum for angels. That said if hes still small and you are defiantely trying to upgrade to a bigger tank then you could keep him in it for awhile..HIH

Wow, I had no idea that 36 inch tall was the minimum for angels. My 30g's are only 18 in tall. hmmm and I researched about them as well b4 i picked them up. So when I get my 120g I will have to keep this in mind.
thanks!

I don't recall the minnimum being 36 inches. I always thought 18 was the minnimum...

Think that must be a typo, 18" high is min for an angel, maybe it was sposed to be 36" long.

I keep breeding pairs in a 20 tall, as long as they are standard fins. The veil pairs need a bit more room due to the long fins, I like to keep them in a 29. Either way, the tanks have a small plec & a few corys in each to help with cleanup. All do just fine and spawn on a regular basis. As long as you keep up on maintainance an angel or 2 should be just fine in a 20 tall.

Probably. I don't know any tank under 100g that's 3' high...not even hex.

ok, great. I picked up a really cool very tall 20g today. Actually i've never seen anything like it b4. When i get it set up i'll post a pic.
thanks for the advice everyone! :)
