Ive an opaline in my 55g at present but it bullies the 2 moonlights, the 2 pearls and especially the gold and the male sailfin molly
I cant move him to my other 4ft because theres another opaline in it and I cant move him to my 3ft because theres another male sailfin molly in it.
Could I move him to an 18.5g 2ft tank?
If so would I have to move any of the following who are presently in it
6 glowlight tetra
6 glassfin tetra
4 dwarf? ballon platy
BTW uk gallons

If it's a stable tank then move him. I mean stable filtrationwise. Although gouramies can be rather mucky fish at the best of times he shouldn't add enormously to the bioload. If you find you're having trouble move the platies to the 55g. Mine live in the 55g happily with the syno community.
Hugs,
P.

While it's certainly ok short term, I don't think 18g is really enough space for a male trichopterus in the long term. My big worry though would be that if he's a mean and nasty little cur in the 55g, he may be twice as mean in the 18g...

Worth a try, but you may be best served finding him a new home altogether...

Good luck!

I agree with modernhamlet in that moving an aggressive gourami to a smaller tank won't do any good. Since you obviously have to move him, I'd actualy tell you to move him to the 3 foot that conatins the other male sailfin molly. I know you say he bullies the sailfin the the tank he is currently in but a lot depends on the other tankmates. The gourami hasn't formed a grudge against all male sailfin mollies - fish don't do that lol - though he may well bully his tankmates in the smaller tank if he feels crowded. One thing I should mention is that mollies tend to provoke gouramies because they are often too inquisitive and nippy for their own good and gouramies won't tolerate that. It may seem as if he's been bullying the molly because he's aggressive but gouramies - even male trichogaster trichopterus - won't attack for absolutely nor eason. He must feel threatened in some way (crowded in the case of the other gouramies for example).

Thanks for the input
After trying to catch the occupants of the 2ft I gave up and stuck him back in the 4ft with the other opaline .This is where he originally was. After watching them skirmish for a while they seem to have settled into an uneasy peace which is what they had before.
Iwas debating on whether to get tank number 6 :*) and now that Ive decided I will put him in there.
Ive been running an extra filter just in case. Its another 4ft fully set up tank-£150 all in
Is there any cure for Mts?I hope not! :)
