Is 120w Of Lighting Too Much For A 33g Tank?

I think it is IMO. High lighting is usually 2-3 WPG(watts per gallon if u didn't know) So try to get a 100 watt.

Thanks for the reply.

To expand on the whole lighting issue, does anyone know if the T5 lighting is ok for freshwater, or is it primarily for marine tanks?

Secondly, if they are ok for fresh water, are the lamps better than an equivalent wattage fluorescent? I.e. is a 30 Watt T5 lamp better than a 30W fluorescent?

Yes they are ok for freshwater, T5's Are about 3 times stronger than normal flourescent, ive got interpet twin power compact t5's on my 25 gallon tank. The bulbs are Triplus (promotes plant growth) & Daylight plus (substitutes natural day light).
