I'm ordering a pleco that is supposed to be 1 inch long when I get it but my question is will it get stuck in this 1 inch 90 degree PVC pipe hole when it gets to adult size and if so should I go ahead and remove it?

Fish which like caves tend to like them tight. Hopefully is will barely fit two for spawning purposes.

A long time ago I di somebidy a favor and got them a load of free tanks (they were drilled). When she came to get them in a pickup she brought me a gift of 4 clown loaches about 4 inches long/ I had no place for them. I managed to get a new tank with lots of plants set up for them. I then ordered 3 caves, one for each. The caves came and the 3 caves went into the tank in a group close together. But all 3 clowns insisted upon sharing one cave. ANd if how they managed to all get into it at one time amazed me, Even more amazing is that if one wanted out, it easily left. And when it wanted back in it slid right in/.

What I do know is if somebody had offered me $1,000 to put those three fish into one cave. I could not have done so even using a mallet and some oil.

Bristlenose love tight spaces because it also means bigger things cannot fit in, things that might wish to do harm to or to eat the inhabitant. It also makes it easier for a male to keep a female trapped in the back of the cave until she lays eggs he can fertilize. I must have had at least 50 breeding male plecos of various species. Not one ever got stuck in side a cave. A few refused to come out and did so by spreading their pectoral fins so they could not be pulled out.
