Invertrebrates Suitable For My Tank

i have a 15gallon tank. And im looking to get some crabs or a lobster, i have in the tank 2 corys, 2 african dwarf frogs, a pair of apistos and 5 white clouds. I was wondering if there are any invertabrates suitable for this kind of setup? It has lots of hiding places, and is heavily planted, im aware that crabs do destroy these. Thanks

some of the larger shrimps like amanos. unfortunately most crabs are actually brickish and also would attack the frog and corries. the lobster would also be aggressive and they get VERY big

ok thought so, i have heard of crabs and lobsters working in the community aquarium, but im guessing these dont hav frogs in! Does anyone know of anything i could add to the tank a bit different?

Sure you dont want to give shrimp another try?

What was the tank like when you put them in?

Planted?

Good water stats?

Because those two factors are needed for shrimp, ive just added some cherrys to mine and i think theyre really cool.

you dont need plants, although theyre recommended.

perfect water and a mature tank are key

My tanks not heavily planted, but one corner is and i have rocks the and it seems to be the main hiding place for the shrimp/fish as theres a large open space behind all the plants and rocks which cant easily be seen. Its awkward to clean but it keeps them all happy.

hmm yer my tank wasnt as planted and was just under a month, its now coming on 6 months so yes maybe it is worth a go, could you reccomend a number to get? I had 2 last time and they were very secretive, would more mean more activity?

Ive got 5 at the moment. But apparently they reproduce very quickly.

I havent seen all 5 at once but i just see them like appear on a plant leaf or the heater or a rock every now and then. Its quite cool that you have to look carefully to see them.

Also they seem to be more active in the dark, about an hour after the lights have gone off, switch them back on and youll see the shrimp being more active looking for food.

I keep a blue cray in a community tank and have no problems, but my tank is 4ft and lightly stocked. If fish go near him he will go for them, but my tank has plenty room for them to get out the way. A minimum tank is 20 gal for a lobster, and I feel that this could be too small once they grow larger.

I put a cherry in my 125l tank and He seems happy enough been there 3 months now but I am lucky to see hime twice a week due to all the plants

Id avoid the cherries to be honest . Apistos like shrimp to eat - and when you buy cherries they are never fully grown. Amano shrimp however do get large enough to not be predated on by apistos.

I originally bought 3 Amano shrimp and 5 cherries for my established community tank. Around a month later I bought a pair of Apistos. As soon as the fish became confident in their new home they started to chase the cherries around the tank. I remember seeing a cherry shrimp half sticking out of the fishes mouth. The fish was determined to eat the shrimp. The Amano shrimp on the other hand had grown large enough to be a real hard eat! They occasionally get a fish looking close up at them, but the fish soon backs away knowing it'd never fit in it's mouth.

Hmm, invertebrates. There are many types of shrimp. Normal "algae eating" shrimp, and Fan shrimp. Have a look at some of the fan shrimp as they do look entirely different so could be what you're after. You would have to ensure you fed them well though. They can end up starving in some aquariums.

How about some of the oddball fishes. Fishes come in many shapes and sizes. Maybe you could have a butterfly fish for the top of the tank, or a type of pipe fish or eel if there are any that wouldnt outgrow the tank.
