Heya everyone i just thought i'd introduce my 2 new betta's Drake and Shimmer they arrived this morning safe and sound from Netty and Bronze.

Shimmer has some red and silver in her tail now.
Drake is currently playing bubble's just a few atm tho

I was contemplating asking netty for a fishy lol, but then we went to 5 LFS and found the right one and a clown plec too

Hollanda.....I've had males build a nest within the first 24hrs of having them and others have taken days, or weeks before they have built anything. There are also those who never build.

I want mine to build lol, was really thinking i was going to have to pm you tonight and ask what fish u have but i found one my girlfiend likes (all the others were crown tails)

Whats the difference between mouth brooders and bubble nesters

You could try putting some amazon frogbit in the tank. They like to build under these.

Mouthbrooders.....the male will carry and hatch the eggs in his mouth whereas bubblenesters will build a nest and put the eggs in there to hatch.

I have a male ct that in the 4 weeks i've had him not 1 bubble nest and drake is trying to build a bubblenest right now it's not goin well tho

how can you tell the difference, is it just a behavioural difference and not a sub species difference (all Betta splendens)?
