Hi i have just recently bought a 420 litre tank (been set up for 6 months) and also a 30 litre hospital tank, in my main tank i have 6 clown loaches, 3 clouded loaches, 1 zebra loach, 1 red rainbow and 3 bosemani rainbow.

I'm looking to introduce some new fish today, maybe a Bristlenose, some more red rainbows and also blue.
I have looked at the FAQ board and from there they are saying that when buying new fish they should be kept in quarantine for 1 to 2 weeks, would it be a good solution to treat them for disease? and if so what treatment should i use?

Thanks for any response this is my first post on this site i used to be on fishprofiles.com but it doesnt seem to be as popular anymore this sight is British and looks very good are there any other tropical fish sites that are recommended?

its best to only treat a disease if you know there is one, give them a few days to settle into the hospital tank and check them for any visible symtoms, then treat accordingly

Yes it is very good to quarrentine your new fish before you add them if you can because that way if they have a disease it will show itself hopefully in the hospital tank and will not infest your already set up tank. And if you see any symptoms occur, treat as you see best.

There is no reason to med a well fish, this is how resistant strains of bacteria develop. The only time I can see doing this is if you get wild caught fish, and the importer hasn't done a quar on them, which usually involves worming and other parasite treatments.

The quar tank is one of the best insurances you can have to keep your main tank healthy. It doesn't have to be decorated or have a substrate, and you are better off without these things for most fish. A plain spartan tank that is easy to maintain & observe the fish is best.
