right i have my tank set up and now the temperature is at 24/25 so its all good. my better halfs mother has 4 tropical fish i have no clue what type they are to be honest however they live in a normal tank with no heater and no chemicals in the tank, they just live in normal tap water and every week the water is completely changed nothing is added to it and yet they survive? they have had them for around a year. how can they survive when there are so many people saying to check the ph levels and add bacteria to the tank? any way they want to get rid of them now but would they survive if they came into my tank which currently has no fish? my tank is ready and set up for a fish within 24 hours so but im unsure if they will survive do i just take one and give it a week? or do i stay clear and buy a hardy fish?

Have you cycled your tank? Shall need ore information like what species they are so we can give a more accurate reply :)

yea tanks done and ready to go with in the next 24 hours. i have no clue n neither do they to be honest

Are you thinking of adding the fish to THIS TANK WHICH YOU POSTED IN THIS THREAD?

If so, Your tank will not be cycled for another 4-6 weeks. It takes this long to go from

High Ammonia------->Low Ammonia to High Nitrite -------?Low Nitrit to High Nitrate ------>Low Nitrate. When you hit the 0's on the test kits you have cycled the tank mate so unfortunately I dont think your ready for the fish yet pal. If you do add them, they face a good possibility if dying.

Certain Fish can tolerate low level temperatures and I have read posts where some people do not heat there tanks, but rely on external heat such as room tempereature to regulat they tanks. If they havent died in her tank yet then maybe she is just a lucky one, what fish are they? Pictures might be helpful :good:

Please try to take some photos of the fish so we can help you identify them.

Are you sure she's using straight tap water, not well water?
