Hi!! well, this is Betto (clever, huh? :p ) .. my betta fish :) I've had him for almost 6 months.. as you may notice, he's still changing his colors, specially on his head and the bottom fin.. when I got him he wasn't in his best condition.. his fins where rotting, he was very nervous (the prior owner used to catch him with her hand to change the water of his bowl), his color was very opaque, he was in a very very small bowl, he didn't eat.. and when I moved him to a 10lt tank he didn't move at all, he was in a corner all day long...

now he eats very well, i feed him with bloodworms coz everything else (flakes, "betta food") he'd just spit it

I wish I had pictures of the first days I had him so you could compare, but well.. here he is!!

so, what do you think?? any ideas/advices so he gets even better??

Aww he is very nice!
Is he heated and filtered? What does he have in his tank? Bettas love swimming in and out of plants.

By the way, alot of betta keepers get the bettas out of their tanks with hands, some nets may damage the finnage. I have also found it easier and more relaxing for the betta to catch with the hand. :good:

He's a cutie that's for sure :good:
I'm sure he'll develop into quite the fish.

I used to have plants, but right now he has a few plastic plants, but I saw a plant that I think he's gonna love

I have a heater but I'm not using it, I really dont need it.. the water temperature is at 80 degrees, is pretty hot where I live :p about filter, I don't have one since the tank is little I didnt think he needed it, but if you think he does I'll get one ;) .. what type would you recommend me??

I use a scoop to take him out ot the tank, coz he seemed very scared when my hand got closer...he used to be very jumpy -_-

He's very pretty!
I use a small tub to remove my Bettas from my tanks, fairly easy and it doesn't bother them too much.

he is a cutie, glad you treat him like he should be treated :)

Ok, do you monitor the temp of the tank all the time? The water temp will drop alot at night time when we are not aware.
You dont need to use a filter, I keep one of my bettas without a filter, but you have to do regular water changes.

I live in a really hot region in Mexico, the temperature doesn't drop much, not even at night, the temperature in my house right now is 81 degrees.. and its 1.31 in the morning.. but yeah, I've checked the temperature late at night and early in the morning.. I have an automatic heater in my bigger tank and it's not even functioning right now, so I don't have a problem with that.

I'm thinking about getting a filter for his tank, so I don't have to change the water so often.. I do it once a week and I have to add water now and then because of evaporation. I use bottled water

I dont use a net just a small plastic cottage cheese pot or a glass jam jar is fine...they swim in before they realise :shout:

I find a fine net is just fine :good: its probaly worth getting a filter and in the mean time you should do at least 1 extra water change a week. i do a water change every other day on my 20g and it has no filter :good:
