I've got a couple of oto fry that are now 13mm TL. I want to place them in the main tank asap as there is a lot more available food for them there. I'm a bit worried that at this size they will get hunted down and eaten. The main worries are the rainbowfish the danio and the black neons. Any idea when these fish will not eat the fry?
I'm going to do a rescape of the tank this weekend as I have a bunch of new plants. Would this bee a good time to introduce them? The current fish will be scared to death once they scaping is over and will be less likely to go on the hunt.

What do you think or what's your experience?

Look at the size of the mouths on your largest fish....if it is smaller than they fry they will be safe...

And yes, I would add them after the rescaping is done...the other fish will be too busy checking out their new envieonment to worry about new things to chase....

To be safe though.....create a few hiding places so the fry have somewhere to go if they feel threatened.

My platy fry were put in the tank at what I thought was too early...as I needed their nursery tank for a sick fish....they ended up harrassing the adults more than the adults harrassed them!!!

Oto fry  Are these homegrown? More details about how you got them to 'spawn' pls.
