With the fish i already have in my tank (See below) would i be able to introduce a male siamese fighting fish?
According to thinkfish.co.uk they are compatable.

Also,
The same website suggests that i should have at least 5 corys in my tank. The 3 that i already have, have been in there a while now would it be alright in add 2 more now or will they not get on?

Thanks

This is another of those "For some it was a match made in heaven, others the worst decision" etc, the only thing I can say to support your idea is that you dont currently have any male guppy's. Thats more likely to end badly :) so I guess its possible to do so, although I dont believe they generally make great community fish? Let us know how it goes!

Hi there, Male fighters dont normally make great community fish but some people on the forum have said they have kept them in a community with success, the gouramis would make me slightly nervous with SFF, its said everywere that corys are best kept in groups of 5 i would generally agree with this but 3 is ok IMO, but if you've got the room then go for it, corys interact really well so dont worry about introducing new ones :good:

I wouldn't try it with that stock personally. The gouramis and betta are likely to be aggresive with each other. I've seen a male betta with dwarf gouramis and he looked so stressed, they constantly harrassed him and h stressed himself out flaring constanly, ripping his own fins. The neons are liable to nip and chase the betta's tail, stressing him out and causing fin damage.

If you were to do it, which I don't recommend, make sure there is a lot of cover and hiding places and have a small tank on standby to move the betta to if it goes wrong.

I agree with last poster- gouramis and bettas are territorial fish both from the same family, so there is a good chance they will decide to get territorial with each other.

Introducing new corys should not be a problem however, most cory species (bar a few that Coryman can tell you about) are perfectly sweet and cuddly and never happier than when all getting together for a big group hug.
