Hmmmm......a member here possibly thought that Peaceful, my blue fish, may be female.

So I decided to do some supervised Betta get together with my male blue fish and two females - pink and white.

All three seemed fine swimming in the biOrb tank. For a while.

They were all swimming counterclockwise at one point, all three. The pink first, then the blue, then the white. This was mostly the order.

They all even gathered together at a very colorful fake flowering plant. Everything seemed like a peaceful exsistence.

No one was flaring. Not once that I could see.

Okay, so the pink girl Isabel went right up to Peaceful and took a tiny little bite of his back tail fin. He freaked out and whenever he saw her, he would like dart out of the way. He even hid from her.

Pearl, the white girl, she simply stayed out of their way.

There were many times when Pearl was in the path of Isabel and Isabel never darted towards her or did her any harm.

So with Peaceful scared, I took Isabel out and put her back in her tank.

I came back and it seemed that Peaceful wanted to bully Pearl. I of course also placed Pearl back into her own tank.

I don't know what to make of all this.

Are they all females? Or is Isabel an alpha-Betta, even though she is female?

I have seen other members posting big frothy bubble nests by their male bettas and I have yet to see Peaceful make one that frothy. Does this come with age or how young can male bettas be when they make their first frothy bubble nest?

********

All I could say is that if all three were female then Isabel would be head honcho, and Pearl would be her best friend while Peaceful would definitely be intimidated. But without Isabel, Peaceful would certainly like to control Pearl. Poor little Pearl, she is just a happy go lucky sweet Betta.

by the way, is there something that i need to do about the little nip taken from peaceful's tail? or does that heal on its own?

thanks.
