Hi everyone, I've got two 42' T8 tubes above my 48' low tech tank. The one tube is as the heading says a Interpet Triplus 38W and the other is Acadia Tropical Freshwater 38W. Now the Interpet one is situated toward the back of the tank and the Acadia toward the front. I switched the Acadia one off by accident but then noticed the Interpet Triplus was hardly giving off any light in fact its like a night light, the light's giving off a pinkish glow. It's about 4 months old and i carn't say i've noticed any decline in light. The plants at the back seem to be stunted and grow hair algae which goes black where as the plants in front grow fast. Is the Interpet Triplus a crappy bulb? Should i be replacing it? What would you recommend? :/

I have heard the interpet triplus is a very intense and powerful bulb. But im not sure, since i have a triton and wasnt very impressed, the triton is supposedly simmilar to the triplus...

Thanks

Any suggestions on which would be better. By the Acadia bulb I meant the Arcadia. Sorry, wrong spelling.

Thanks, Alex

Since you said it gives off a pinkish glow, the first thing I thought about was its kelvin rating. Do you know if its more than 10,000K?

I don't know Kelvin rating on this bulb as I threw the cover away. When i bought it I stipulated it was for a planted tank and from what i've read tubes which have high blue and red in there spectrum are best. But this tube hardly gives off any light intensity  I'm looking at getting another double t8 starter and tubes soon, so i'm wondering whats the best T8 tubes to get. Budget for ballast and tubes £50. Thanks Alex
