I am considering getting a single 36w Interpet compact tube for my 24"x12"x18" tank, to go with a 18w T8 marine tube.

Are the compact tubes anygood? Will it be enough light to grow coral?

I use T5 Power Compacts in one of my smaller Tank and think that they are good lights
The tank they are used in is a Soft Coral only tank (Muchies, Rics, etc.)

I would recommend them but say that may be an idea to add a blob of silicone to the clip that holds the bulb as mine has came loose from the clip once and almost ended up in the water

:) :)

Are they not sealed units... My T8 has fallen in many times on one of my old tanks :dunno:

The Standard T5 Power Comapcts are not sealed Units they are simply a Double Tubed Bulb & a connector that leads to the Ballast

My pet hate was the stupid clips! every other night the bulb fell onto teh cover glass, in the end I took all 3 units and bulbs back to the shop.

Ive found out you can use the metal normal T5 clips and clip these over one arm on thecompact
