hi

been treating what i thought was ich for a while now (main tank) but im now thinking maybe it isnt

the fish were flicking and rubbing but no spots anywhere, gills alittle swollen ,some of the female guppies are at the top of the water 80% of the time.

no fish deaths

i thought mybe it was something diffrent so i was thinking about trying to use interpet no 9,

i have loaches and apple snails/ trumpet snails

could i use this with inverts ??

thanks

stats are

45 gallon

nitrites 0 , nitrates 20 ammonia 0 , temp 78 .

Whitespot (ICH) doesn't always show on all fish - but generally at least on some.
It could possibly be skin or gill flukes. Read up some more (here's some info) and have a closer look at your fish - their skin, gills and behaviour. Don't treat without a certain diagnosis. And if it's not ICH, run carbon in the filter and do a water change before switching meds.

Edit: I've used no.9 without any advere effects to inverts - but I think it says you shouldn't. At the time it wasn't an option for me though as it was a heavily planted tank with shrimp and it would have been impossible to remove the shirmp. They were fine though.

thanks for that bloo

i have done the water change and ran carbon, i am just unsure what to treat the tank with now.

i had a good look at he fish and i really am stuck as to what it is

i have read all the pinned things and still am unsure.

the fish are eating normaly and swimming as normal just now and again they flick or rub

there gills alittle swollen a little pink .

i thought that if i did a general bactaria teatment, it might help.??

thanks

I wouldn't treat for bacterial - it doesn't sound like it. Esepcially if there are no other obvious signs of illness or lesions.
It sounds more parasite related if anything - but it's hard to say with little to go on.
And if you subject the fish to too much meds without really knowing what the problem is, you will stress and just weaken them even more. My other guess would have been something like ammonia / nitrite poisoning, but as your stats are fine, it can't be that.

See if anyone else has any other ideas....

its got me stumped what ever it is thats for sure :shout:

i run a fluval 304 External and a Eheim Aquaball 2212 Internal just to be sure .

can you have to much filtration?

I would agree with bloo and start a treatment after 48 hours of carbon of a gill fluke treatment. You may have to move the inverts.

With the pale and swollen gills then it could be something poisoning the water. Is there an air pump running? and if so is there any room fragrances or sprays in the room?

What do you add to the water?

no air pump

no sprays perfumes nothing that could poison the water.

i treat the water with seachem prime

the gills are alittle swollen and look red inside
