Internal To External

Hi there,

I've just bought and set-up a fluval 305 on my 40g - I was running a Fluval 4+ bu felt the need to upgrade increase filter capacity.

My question is though, will running the new canister filter along-side the old internal not kill off any mature bacteria on the internal, as now the water is being thoroughly over-filtered?

Also, what is the average amount of time to allow beneficial bacteria to build up in a canister filter?

jus put the sponges in the external from the internal and youll seed it and wnt need the internal.


can jus leave it in there then too cos it just adds to the current media altho if you wanted you could probably take it out in 2 or 3 weeks.
