about 2 months ago i lost an angel it was bullied by another and was attacked around the eye. the fishes eye started to swell so i did several water changes and it seemed to reduce the swelling but sadly i lost the fish. about 3 weeks ago i lost another angel with no warning then last week another, they were all the same species and bought from the same place.
i added a group of 9 praecox rainbows after a couple of weeks quarentine and during the last few weeks they have been dropping dead 1 by 1, the first became really swollen in the belly and was swimming at the surface constantly, the second went the same way within a few days and i put them out of their missery. about a week later another was swimming at the surface but wasnt swollen lost all its colour and died, tonight another started swimming at the surface so i added interpet number 9 anti internal bacteria to the tank as i didnt want to lose any more and within 15 mins the fish was swimming in a spiral manor and eventually dropped to the surface dead.......
all the other fish seem fine and show no signs of any problems except another angel that doesnt seem to be feeding as it normally does but otherwise seems fine!
my water stats are -
ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate = 10
pH = 7.8/8.0
i do regular water changes once a week of about 25-30% and the tank has been set up about 6 months using a mature filter from a previous tank of about 4 months, the tank is 240 litres and has 2 external filters running and a vecton uv on 1 of these.
other fish left are 3 SAE, 1 false SAE, 3 platys, 1 spotted climbing perch, 2 angels, 3 polkadot loaches, 5 dwarf rainbows and before adding the med there were 3 amano shrimp and 6 apple snails.
have i done the right thing bt adding this med? all be it too late for 3 angels and 4 rainbows...... i was going to add wormer plus as well but since mixing it it states not to use if opened for over 3 months and its about 6 months old now so dont want to risk it....!
