about 2 months ago i lost an angel it was bullied by another and was attacked around the eye. the fishes eye started to swell so i did several water changes and it seemed to reduce the swelling but sadly i lost the fish. about 3 weeks ago i lost another angel with no warning then last week another, they were all the same species and bought from the same place.
i added a group of 9 praecox rainbows after a couple of weeks quarentine and during the last few weeks they have been dropping dead 1 by 1, the first became really swollen in the belly and was swimming at the surface constantly, the second went the same way within a few days and i put them out of their missery. about a week later another was swimming at the surface but wasnt swollen lost all its colour and died, tonight another started swimming at the surface so i added interpet number 9 anti internal bacteria to the tank as i didnt want to lose any more and within 15 mins the fish was swimming in a spiral manor and eventually dropped to the surface dead.......
all the other fish seem fine and show no signs of any problems except another angel that doesnt seem to be feeding as it normally does but otherwise seems fine!
my water stats are -
ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate = 10
pH = 7.8/8.0
i do regular water changes once a week of about 25-30% and the tank has been set up about 6 months using a mature filter from a previous tank of about 4 months, the tank is 240 litres and has 2 external filters running and a vecton uv on 1 of these.
other fish left are 3 SAE, 1 false SAE, 3 platys, 1 spotted climbing perch, 2 angels, 3 polkadot loaches, 5 dwarf rainbows and before adding the med there were 3 amano shrimp and 6 apple snails.
have i done the right thing bt adding this med? all be it too late for 3 angels and 4 rainbows...... i was going to add wormer plus as well but since mixing it it states not to use if opened for over 3 months and its about 6 months old now so dont want to risk it....!

What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Lost any fish to being skinny or bent spines.
What do you feed the fish.
Do any fish swim on there sides.
Do any fish look pale or darker in colour.
Any fish acting listless and lethagic.
Any signs of laboured breathing or gasping.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
What do the gills look like.

What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet. - it has been stringy and white sometimes
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed. - not thats noticable
Lost any fish to being skinny or bent spines. - not skinny just a few that were bloated
What do you feed the fish. - prima, tetra veg crisps, frozen bloodworms (occasionally), freeze dried tubiflex and brine shrimp (occasionally)
Do any fish swim on there sides. - not to my knowledge
Do any fish look pale or darker in colour. - the fish that have already gone went pale
Any fish acting listless and lethagic. - the rainbows that died split from the group and didnt move much
Any signs of laboured breathing or gasping. - the rainbows that have died all sat at the surface gasping
Any signs of flicking and rubbing. - i saw 1 rainbow flick and 1 platy but not often/regular
What do the gills look like. - normal from what i can see

i hope this helps wilder..... its been almost 24hrs since adding the med and all the current fish seem fine even the angel that lost its appetite ate again today!!

Ok. That sounds abit better.

Try some peas to see if the long stringy white poo clears up.
Long stringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial, internal parasites.

Check if your fish can eat veg. As some fish eat veg and love it.

i do occasionally feed peas and the platys and rainbows go nuts for it but the angels dont touch it. but ill try tomorrow :good:

Let me know how they get on if you don't mind.

yeah sure of course i will wilder. :good:
all the remaining fish seem fine still today, the med needs a 2nd dose 4 days after the first dose so ill add that on sunday evening.

i added the 2nd dose on sunday and no more dodgy poo or ill looking fish so fingers crossed its done the job :good:
the angels cant be feeling too bad either as they have spawned tonight......!!!

That's good news mattlee.
