Seems two of my platys have gotten some sort of internal parasites they have both become subdued not eating and pooing white stringy poo, one of them has really thinned out in her gut area, i just wondered what the best internal parasite med is on the market thanks. :good:

Are you in the US or the UK? Different brands available.

I treated my guppies for internal parasites using Waterlife Sterazin, seemed pretty effective to me although others may have other recommendations.

Good luck!

Hi thanks for that im concerned it could spread to my tanks so i want something thats cat fish safe aswell livebearers, seems flubenol 15 is another one recommended so ill look the one you said and the other up on monday cant get anything till then so fingers crossed i wont get any fatalities

Flubenol been taken off the market.
There wormer plus but it dosn't work on camallanous worms which livebearers are prone too.

Today i bought some sterazin treated my main tank and my smaller platys and guppy tank, within the hour their seemed to be a improvement in the worst hit platy, she is swimming around instead of hiding now, and has also released her bowls what she had not done for a day or two, and on top of this she took a bite to eat so hopefully she will become stronger as the treatment progress

Thanks for advice

The product Fubenol-15 has indeed been taken off the market and hopefully will come back. This is all down to the new vetenary directive hoo-har.

Try searching instead for 'Wormer Plus’. I hope this stupid nanny state we live in hasn't pull that product off the shelves too. :shout:

I would recommend this product but with a warning: DO NOT USE IT IF YOU HAVE SNAILS IN THE TANK.... as the use of this med will kill them.

Thanks i could do with killing my snails off they are pest snails and i hate them so this stuff sounds like a dream come true lol

Two birds with one stone then. Take note of what Wilder says. This may not be effective on your particular parasite.

If using it to kill snails, dose once a week for at least 5 weeks. This will kill the snails AND hatchlings (i.e. eggs). Be sure to vac up the dead snails else expect an ammonia spkie.

That waterlife med is no good on internal parasites.
Waterlife tell fibbies it says it conrtol them what ever that means.
Waterlife says one of there med treats ntd when there no cure.

You could ring a vet to see if they would percribe a med for you.

I found wormer plus, im not paying the vets but i suppose i could call for some advice the fish in question has made a slight improvement the waterlife says it treats internal worms on the back, is this the fib if so maybe i should try a different one thanks. :good:

Called my vet hes going to give me a call back, this is seriously silly not having anything to treat these problems on the uk market
