Internal Or External Filter

I'm still not happy with the internal stingray 15 filter (sat watching a bit of old food moving by the filter but never actually going anywhere) in my 60l tank so I'm considering changing to a more powerful filter - either an external filter or internal.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm considering either a Fluval internal filter but wonder how much better an external filter + spray bar is?

in a 16gal tank i'd stick to an internal, I think most externals would be too powerful for that size tank tbh and your fish would end up getting blasted round!!

i'm not keen on fluvals, but this topic comes up all the time so search the site for 'fluval' and you'll see loads of threads with people discussing they're merits and you can make up your own mind.

Right, seem to have managed to improve the filter... I got some filter wool and placed it just above the coarse sponges... now works alot better - the water is now lovely and clear
