I've been told by everyone I know that I need more males than females with Guppies and Swordies. But since losing a couple of fish, I've got and even number of male and female guppies and 2 males and 1 female swordie. The interesting thing is that none of them seem remotely aggressive or interested in the females.

All the water stats are fine and all the fish seem happy enough, just not interested in rumpy pumpy

maybe because you got the numbers wrong..
should it be more females than males?
i use 3:1 ratio.

yeah the reason you should have more females is so the don't (excuse my french) get sh@gged to death. it can be v stressful for the females to be bothered all the time.

that being said though, some males are worse than others, i've 1 m and 1 f molly and he hardly bothers her at all. I am getting another female soon though to be on the safe side.

I did have more females than males, but I lost some after they gave birth. What I'm surprised at now is the way the males are ignoring the females
