Interesting Clown Behaviour

I noticed some new interesting behaviour of my clowns last night.

They swin to the bottom and lie dead still next to each for a minute or so, then they resume swimming normally while the female whips up the sand where they were lying so there is a now a small recessed nest type area on the sand. I've also seen her moving sand out of the bottom of the dip with her mouth.

They are perfectly happy and healthy and eating like its going out of fashion.

Are they mating or just setting a home type area do you think?

Yeah probably a nesting or territory marking behavior. Most clownfish eggs I've seen were laid on rocks though, not sand

Cool, they've got so much personality, but they are very placid towards the goby. they eat out of my hand aswell, and nip me when my hands are in the tank! Scared the life out of me the first time, wondered what was attacking me!

sounds like your two are pairing off really well!! great stuff!

mine are not being friendly at the mo though lol they are in my bad books! i got a lovely torch coral the other day bargain from my lfs woooo now one of the clowns is trying to host in it and the other one is being chased off! normally they sleep together at night but no one is left out all alone fell so sorry for him!! gonna have to get another torch now so the other one can have a home!

oh, divorces can be messy and expensive....(so i've heard, no experience myself)
