so ive finally come into a bit of spare cash so i can start insulating my garage for my new tank to go in,what is the cheapest way to do this?ive been looking at the rockwool all in one insulation boards but they are so expensive :(

I used Wicks thermal insulation foil which comes on 8 meter rolls for around £16 a roll. I will be honest and say that it is not good as using a foil backed insulation board like kingspan or celotex but as these cost around £20 for one 8x4 sheet it is certainly a much cheaper option and still does a reasonable job.
The insulation foil is easy to fit as it can just be stapled to the walls and ceiling with a heavy duty staple gun, then you just tape over all the joints with silver foil tape (about £5 a roll). I've found that now the room is insukated it will keep at around 76f for 2 hours without heating once it has been brought up to temperature.

thx :good:the garage has a concrete floor will i have to also insulate that?

In reading about fish rooms recently I've seen that some people do, some don't. And those that do, use a thick masonry style paint. Or at least, the ones I've read about this week have.

I havent insulated the garage floor, the tanks were already in and i didnt fancy moving them all to put insulation down, there would be no point insulating around them as insulation is only as good as the largest gap between it.

the king span celotex will give you much better insulation than the rock wool, however it will cost more. you can insulate the garage florr but this isn`t a cheap option, (damp proof membrane, celotex type insulation then screed ovcer the top.)
