Hi all, vey quick repsonse required, I found a baby platy tonight, very tiny!!

He/it is in my breeding trap atm which I also need for my sick RTBS as my fry tank is not cycled yet.

So what can I use overnight as a second fry trap/tank?

Germ suggested a pint glass in the dark??

any other opinions???

use a clean butter tub or something fill it half full and it will float with no problems and the fry should be fine for 2-3 days like that, just change ther water with tank water now and then.Just make sure it's clean though....

Google 'homemade fry tank' second result should be headed; GuppyLog || The Cheapest, Easiest Home Made Fish Trap
I'm getting an error on my computer when i try to get on the site but with a bit of luck its only my computer....
I would have thought there'd be people on this site with experience or knowledge of homemade traps, maybe try tropical chat which tends to be busiest?
Its not a livebearer specific question after all, is it?
;)
Edit, posted at same time as Helter, wahey! Done...

I've never had a problem, and used to do it all the time, must admit though I've not needed to do this in the last 5 years or so.

My swordtail just had her babies last nite. I wasnt expecting them yet so I didnt have a fry tank ready. I made one. I used panty hose and a small plastic bin with wholes on the sides and bottem. Put it all the way to the toes of the pantyhose, cut the pantyhose off only leaving about a 1 inch whole at the top. Then to make it float I hooked fishing bobbers to the panty hose. It is working well so far. None have excaped. Hope this helps you
