Where in the tank is the best place to situate the inlet & outlet pipe on an external filter for best results

The filter in question is the Eheim 2128 Thermo.

on my ehiem pro 2 i place the outlet pipe on the back left wall then inlet/spraybar is along the top of the left of the tank.

the most efficent would be at either end, that way you would get maximum flow through the whole length of the tank.

ok - but does it matter how far up/down you put these in the tank? my tank is 24 inches in depth & 54 inches in length. -_-

I've got my inlet pipe about 1.5" off the bottom of the tank (rear left) and the outlet at the top right (rear) but pointing at an angle to give as much water displacement as I can get.

That way you can stock your tank with a few more fish!!!! ;)

Hope that helps!

Pete
