I feel SO sorry for one of my platy fry. One of the ones from the first batch that look just like mom, I believe it was the 8th one that I didnt see often, and its because he cant swim well. They are a month old already, and this little one looks a bit younger (but from the same batch) just smaller I guess, really small... and it looks like his tail fin isnt as developed, or what... its not as big and "out" like the others, and he swims at the bottom, only being able to swim upwards for a few seconds, then falls back down to the rocks and breathes heavily and lays on his side, I cant really see his two side fins very well to see if they look ok, cuz they are white and blend in easily with the water right now (see-thru) He is still eating, but of course doesnt get as much as the others, and if he makes it I will plan on keeping him/her because of his "handicap". For all you platy breeders, he doesnt have the cute little puggy belly like the others, and actually looks kind of like a cross between a guppy and platy... he is long and skinny, yet has a platy face and looks like momma platy... I feel so bad for him, he cant play with his siblings and be normal, anyone know what could be wrong?

Oh ya, and they are now in the 10 gallon by themselves, I moved the adults to my new 30g, there are 14 babies altogether, one being a guppy fry, 8 from the sunset mom and 5 from the blue mom.

He's got a bacterial infections they lay to onside and rest of the bottom of the tank, sounds like swim bladder too, if he's heavy breathing sorry he's not going to make it.

I don't think he has a bacterial infection. This is a common defect in fish that are inbred. Are the parents related? How old is he?

Or the swim bladder was damaged during birth, but anna does know her livebearers.

Well, he is a month old now, and im not sure if she was inbred, I got her with another male sunset but the male died 2 days later, they were in the same tank, im sure from the same breeder or whoever they purchase their fish from. But she didnt have fry untill like 3 months after I bought her, but they all look like her so I was assuming she was bred with before I bought her, because none of the other fish seem interested in her (male platy wise)
Could he still live a good life with a swim bladder problem, or is it just inevitable? I think he has been like this since day one, but im not sure, like I said he was pretty shy and I rarely ever saw him untill about 4 days ago is when I noticed his disability.

To be honest he's not going to make it, he's heavy breathing, sorry.

Aww poor little guy.... well I will keep faith anyways, maybe its something else... theres always hope in my eyes! He's gotten this far... just maybe :-(

u have a pic or something, you should feed him in a separate smaller tank so he can reach the food without stressing it

No, I want to get some pics really soon cuz they are growing so fast! But this little one is still alive and kicking, and I watched as they fed yesterday, and he seemed to be swimming alittle better, but still resting on the rocks, and he has been getting food cuz he can swim upwards now, so im keeping my fingers crossed. Momma platy just had another batch of fry yesterday morning, dont know how many yet, but so far I have seen 4.
