I have 2 young discus in my tank, they are about two inches at the minute but one of the pair has always been a little smaller and weaker ...
I hadnt seen him in a while, had looked EVERYWHERE and eventually after tearing my tank apart found the poor wee guy cowering stuck under an ornament! :(

So i fished him out (no pun intended haha), popped him in a bowl by himself (someone had bitten a chunk out of him after clearly recognising he was half dead) and currently he's sort of swimming, but not properly and looking very sorry for himself! :(
I've offered food, but he doesnt want it and am currently using a halogen heated near the bowl to keep him warm as i dont have a hospital tank or spare heater!

ANY advice would be appreciated, i dont know if it's exhaustion or whether he'll ill or injured or very hungry or what!
Thanks guys :)

In the absence of a hospital tank can you get hold of something like a 15 litre food safe bucket or food safe container of similar size?
I don't know what time your LFS shuts, but you would need to get down there pronto to get a filter, heater, airstone with pump, airline, a non return valve and I would suggest some Melafix - provided Melafix is suitable for discus.

Get it done ASAP if not sooner.

Great suggestions David. Just in addition

If you can't purchase all of those things the most essential would be Melafix or something like it, the heater and a filter.

Leave the lid open of the container to let air in.

I would get a 5 gallon bucket from home depot or something. That is about 19L. Do 45-50% water changes every day and use a good conditioner like Prime. $1.87 for the bucket and lid i think.
