hey i bought 4 baby peppered corys from a lfs 2 days ago and theyre in my quarrantine tank. i have just noticed that one of them has a bent back/spine along the tail, he doesnt seem to bothered and swims fine, but seems more lethargic than the others and often sits around doing nothing.
has he been injured or is he ill?
thanks

:good:

Sorry this is going to sound awful you will have to destroy the fish he's dying , it sounds like fish tb, don't put any of the corys in the other tank for a least 6 months, sorry.

Really, do you think he has TB!
its only a small bend in the spine, i cant just kill him!,
thanks for the reply

See don't know if its a birth defect, but bending of the spine is fish tb, is he thin, any other symtoms on the fish what in the article, i would let the lfs know, but i don't no if they will do anything to there tank, that's down to them, and they shouldn't be selling those fish in that tank he came from.
See how he goes, but he putting the other corys at risk.

Just looked at your post and on the fish tb site it does say sluggish movement which your fish is showing.

he's not thin, but he is slightly smaller than the other 3.
he's still eating, but just a bit more lethargic than the others.
poor thing hope its not TB.
what do you think i should do?
cheers x x

You can't cure a bent spine, but i would add a bacterial med to the corys tank.
Need antibiotics for fish tb, like tetracycline, minocycline, but once they have a bent spine it won't cure it, they usually tell you to destroy the fish, i will get you more info.

hey thanks a lot, your a great help! x x x

Just keep a close eye on him, sorry not nice, if he gets any worse i would end his suffering, fingers crossed it isn't fish tb, good luck, add some anti internal bacteria med by interpet, or waterlife myxazin, don't forget to increase aeration and remove black carbon.

Look under fish tb.

Just seen you online, hows the cory doing.

hey, just a quick update,
i found the cory in my quarrantine tank dead this morning unfortunatly, poor little guy!
he was in the quarrantine tank with 3 other corys and an apple snail, and when i found him dead his eyes were missing!, do you think the others have eaten them!!???
if they have could they have now contracted the disease!?????
thanks x x x
RIP baby cory!!

Sadly yes, that why is best to keep them on there own, the cory have sucked his eyes out by the sounds of it, or the snail.

ok, so what do you think i should do now?
thanks x x

You really need an antibiotic like tetracycline, or minocycline, just water changes and time will tell.

ok thanks for all your help!
fingers crossed they'll all be ok!
how long will it take before they start showing any symptoms? how long should i leave them in quarrantine before adding them to my main tank?
cheers x x x

8 weeks, read that link, keep equipment sterlised, and watch your hands and arms for cuts, as don't put hands in with cuts into the tank.
