Hi

Yesterday night I was doing a water chnage and as I was sucking the water through the tube, I accidently sucked the fish causing injury :( . The fish was in shock for a few minutes but soon became his usual self again. However, where the injury occured I can see that some of his scales are missing and the area has turned white.

Is there anything I can do to make sure he doesn't get an infection or become ill? He is a Blackmore and lives with another blackmore - they both get along fine.

I've heard melafex is good for injured fish??? Please note that i'm still cycling my tank - and have been doing so for about 3 months (ammonia ok, but nitrites not gone down yet!)

Regards

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your black moor. I think I would try the melafix. If I remember correctly, I don't think Melafix will wipe out your beneficial bacteria.
Good luck

HI Melanie

I've just gone out and bought some - hopefully it will do the trick.

Thanks

Hi

I quarantined him last week - and his damaged tissue seemed to be healing using melafix. However, yesterday he was very inactive and floating about. I have put him back in the original tank with my other blackmore, but he has got worse and is just floating about, with very little movement.

What I have I done wrong? Now I Wish i'd never moved him.

I think I made him worse by quarantining him in an uncycled tank - so I dont think he's got swim bladder, but is probably dying as a result of being put in a new tank. However, I did test the water regularly and the amonnia/nitrite levels have been fine.

Does anyone have any ideas to why my little blackmore is on his death bed?
