I have been thinking about potential fish for my new tank and my thoughts are these.

My initial set of fish potentially are cardinal tetra, neon tetra and clown loaches. I like bala shark but their size potential makes me think they would not be ideal around the smaller tetra. my tank is 98 litres internally and i have been on one stock calculator that says i can have up 46 inches of fish.

what are your thoughts please?

Clown Loaches are also too big for a tank that size. They can get around 8-12+ inches. You would be better off with another type of bottom dwellers. Either Oto catfish or some sort of Corydoras Catfish, Peppered for example.

Other than that the Tetra's would be fine & yeah your right, the Silver Sharks get far too big.

James.

Totally agree with James on the Clown Loach and sharks  they get far to big for a 98 litre tank and even as juveniles its still a bit small

I do recall that neons do prefer a mature tank that has been cycled and run for a good few months I am unsure about cardinals there are other tetras like Glow light's that are far more hardier for a new tank.

I would recommend you have a look at the fish species index in this forum that will give you an idea of which would be more advisable for a new tank.
