Hey people, im new to this forum, although i've been keeping fish for about 6 - 8 months.

I was needing some information on a new fish i have recently started to keep.

Its called "Hongi"

I have a male and a female, the female recently just spat out 17 babies.

Was just wondering if anybody here keeps the hongi species? Also, what are their preferred requirements and also compatibility with other cichlids.

Thanks.

yeah, thats the fish.

Was wondering if any of u keep it ?

Also, another type of cichlid im wanting to more about is the Labeotropheus fuelleborni.

If you know anything about that sp. help is appreciated.

its more nippy than other labidchromis I have kept, but well worth it.
congrats on the babies!!!

their requirements are the same as other mbuna, veggie food, lots of rocks and a pH thats 7.5-8.5, don't mix more than one species of labidocromis in the same tank as they will interbreed!!

Labidochromis and Labeotropheus are on opposite ends of the diet scale for mbuna.

Labidochromis are insectivores and actually take very little algae in their diet.

Labeotropheus are almost primarily algae feeders, and take very little meat in their diet.

ah k, cool.

Hey i noticed the catfish in your little display pic freddy, theyre expensive and rare catfish. How long have u had those for ?

The link didnt work, although that is a nice fish :)

Theyre quite expensive, how big do they get? what species is it exactly ?
