hi i am just wondering the best place to get rocks and wood to make my tank look good and provide little hideouts for my fish? can you use rocks you find if you wash them being silly?

I'm new to the sport myself but I've always understood that you should put whatever piece of rock or wood into boiling water before adding it to your tank. After it cools down obviously.................this is to kill any bad bacteria on it.

Some rocks can explode when boild, a good scrub with hot water should be fine, you can add a drop of vinegar to rocks if the dont react they are safe
