What kind of light should I use for a betta tank with live plants? Incandescent or fluorescent? Incandescent lights are the yellowish one with a filament. Fluorescent lights are the white ones.which should I get?

I find that incandescent lights heat up the tank too much, especially if the tank is on the smaller side. Fluorescent give the fish a nice, vibrant colour IMO.

energy saving lights or cfl's are great for plants. there the standard bulbs now are very cheap and come in various colours from warm to blues blue or 'cool' are good for vegetative growth.

cfls are just the same as flourecent tubes but are a fraction of the price and no need for a ballast. they produce very little heat and alot of lumens per watt.
