Hi ive got two tubs, (3footx1.5footx16cm) whitch are made from plastic...
i have lids for them, but im wondering if theres anything i could keep in them...
maybe some african dwarf frogs, or some sort of livebearer (i dont know lol)...not used to fish, other than bettas...
I could get a filter and a heater if needs be, but i think something that would be cool to look at from above would be good....

If you have ANY ideas, then ill give it a go..
Mikey

African dwarf frogs would work out, they are nice to look at from above and don't need a filter or heater.

Cool, i think i could have about 5 per tub???
would i need the lid on (id put holes in for ventilation)?
should i use a sand or gravel base, or is bare bottom allright?>??
Mikey

I have heard the frogs love to play in the sand, but i put a patch of it in my tank once and they treated it like gravel.... Right now, i have a mixture of VERY fine gravel, thats almost like sand... and some bigger pieces of gravel, but nothing to sharp as they are very fradgile. Also something to keep in mind, please dont catch them with a net, use a cup or something... their claws will get stuck in the net and then their toes will break.

Think i could have 5 or so in one tub?
They wouldnt be able to see out, nor i see in!!
would putting a lid on be ok, if i put holes in it?
if i didnt put it on, would they get out?
?

I dont get ya? :/
ive never used them...
theyre brand new

Turn them upside down. Is there a picture on the bottom of a wine glass next to a fork? If not, don't use them.

If they don't, they could potentially leach toxins from the palstic into the water, killing whatevers in there. If they're food safe, they are safe to use to keep food in, ergo, they won't poison you.

If these tubs aer a RubberMaid brand they will be fine. Just about any plastic container will be safe so long as it has never been used.

Like I said though, when you get up to that size, they can tend not to be foodsafe becasue you're not likely to store anything that matters whether the plastic leaches toxins or not. Better to be safe than sorry- smaller plastic containers will still be fine for ADFs, but are more often food safe.
