I just got a new Betta yesterday, does anyone put there Bettas in the basement.... because my room's in the basement so I put the fish in my basement. Could it be too cold down here for my fish.. I don't want it to die afterall.

It doesn't swim a lot, its pretty large for a female. She swims for like a minute then rests at the bottom lying there for like 30 seconds then swims again. Is that even normal.........

Thanks in Advance. :D

Alright....

How many times are you suppose to feed a Betta, I bought Bio-Gold Pellets and it saids feed 3 times a day.... last time I did that to my first Betta it died in the first two days :(

This Betta is my second one and I want to make sure it lives long... Do I feed it once a day or twice a day?..

yep shrks1fan is right. you should get a little heater to go in the betta tank.

as far as feeding, I feed my bettas 3 pelllets a day of that HBH food, then 3 times a week a feed them some bloodworms, then once a week I fast them.
the reason your betta died prabably had nothing to do with your feeding. :dunno:

HTH

When you say she dosent swim alot, what size home is she in???
I feed my bettas every other day.
If your temp is hovering around the 70's its too cold, your betta will be more comfortable, healthier and active if you buy it a small heater.

just make sure you dont leave uneated food in the tank. it invites harmful bacteria ni to foul up your water and make mr betta sick:(

Well it doesn't matter anyway about the temperature no more because I decided to just put it upstairs in the living room so its nice and warm for my female Betta Fish. As for the tank size its not very big...

Its a Hexagon Betta Tank... something like that, its very small... Unless that kind of tank isn't a wise choice, I assumed it was because it had the title Betta in it.

Is it one of the ones that's divided in two? From wal-mart?

Yes, its the one from Wal-Mart but its not the double Hex its the single one. He seems happy in the small tank....

Well, in that case you have no room for a heater because the smallest heaters made are for at least 2.5 gallons and yours is probably one of the .5 gallon ones.

If it's the tall single hex that I'm thinking of, it's no bigger then .35 of a gallon.

Thats it, the one in the picture ( The Betta Hex )

Is it good for a Betta Fish to live in those tanks.

In my opinion, I think they are cruel...

It's hard to do as many water changes as needed with that small of a tank. Maybe you could check the dollar store or garage sells for a big bowl of some kind ;)

when i first started keeping bettas, i used those little hex things and sonner or later all of my bettas died. i have come a long way and now use 1 gal storage containers. they are less than a dollar and have lots of room for swimming. poke holes in the top and you are good to go! happy bettas guaranteed!

some of my bettas

he wont be happy-so...yes.
if your betta is a pet store betta-he is probably pretty old to begin with.
