In Sump Skimmer And Refugium.

Does anyone has a refugium and in sump skimmer? If so how do you do it, since if I put the skimmer in the refugium, the pump will suck chaeto in. Is HOB skimmer the only option in that case? Thanks.

Not going on first hand experience here but from what I have seen most sumps with a 'fuge are split up so you have water coming in > Skimmer > dividers which remove bubbles > Fuge > More dividers > Pump returning water back to the tank.

The dividers are staggered so look like this from the side ( | is the divider and w is water flow):

I used to run my skimmer in the refugium... Just added a foam pad to the inlet of the skimmer supply pump. Had to tweak the skimmer a little more often but it worked
