In several tanks, pothos vines have started growing under water

it’s always typically been a terrestrial plant, growing out of the water… but I have 3 tanks, the the vines started growing under the water ( not fallen in, and lived for a while, before it dies ) they don’t grow as fast as aerial vines, and in the case of the one in this picture grew for a while under water, retains it’s leaves in that vine section under water (5) that are submerged, then breached the surface again, retaining the under water leaves… I’ve been doing this for a long time, and not witnessed this before…

maybe because the house is so dry during the winter months??? or they tolorate that with 20 feet of terrestrial vine above the tank???
