My tank is 36 US Gallons, and I have 1WPG of T5 lighting, sand substrate, root tabs, and I dose micro and macronutrients plus having some Flourish Excel for CO2. I tried some Valls prior to having good nutrient levels in the tank and pretty much all of them perished. I'm considering trying them again, however I was wondering what other options I have as well. The tank is 18" tall, so I'd like something that will end up at least 12" - 15" tall and has fairly narrow leaves to give the appearance of a bigger tank.

I was also looking at Hygrophila difformis or perhaps Egeria Densa. What are some other options that I could try?

Why do I never have any luck in this forum? Anyone? I'm just looking for one or two other suggestions as viable candidates and I'll be on my way.

I can't get vals to live. They don't like me. I have egeria and the long thin leaf java ferns in mine. They both grow pretty tall, and they both do well with low light.
