hi i have been keeping oscars for a long time and at the moment have a 55(uk)gal tank housing reggie and ronnie oscar....

they are two 6inch tiger oscars, anyway my son&wife want another tank setup for them to look after(my son is 7yrs old)and gain experiance of keeping fish...

we have decided on a jewel tank because they are a great tank with high manufacturing standards and more crucially for my wife they are attractive...

we have got to buy a corner tank because of space in the living area and this is what we have decided on

link: www.juwel-aquarium.de/en/trigon.htm

now my question is this does this limit our choice of species because of the size of the volume of water coming from hieght and depth and not so much length...

we are looking at a peaceful community tank with a nice shoal of some sort of tetra(ideas for type and amount) as the main species and maybe some freshwater crabs(sorry forgot name at the moment) and maybe a community of corys(will they live in peace with the crabs or will one eat the other)...

also a few butterflie fish because my son is fasinated with the look of these fish...

anyway sorry for the long post but i am looking for answers and help and a guy in a shop reccommended this forum for friendly advice ..

so questions again....1) does a corner tank cause any problems with keeping certain type of fish
2)thinking of a shoal of tetras (neon tetras),how many of them or even a different type
3)freshwater crabs(very small, red in colour)are they ok in community tank
4)corys are they ok with crabs and how many to make them happy
5)thinking of a sand bottom with bogwood and stones...dont want plants si this ok

anyway thanks for your help and time

2)Depends what else is in the tank
3)I wouldnt do it.
4)Nope wouldnt say so
5)Yes and it will look very nice.

I would focus on a a bigger home for you oscars. Maybee a 5x2x2.

but i think my oscar set up is very good and i cant see any problems with it at the moment or the future
